This page exists as a repository of useful links which I have found for various things. Some of the links relate to software I use, some is software I would like to make use of one day.

Geocaching

This document is incomplete, I'm slowly getting to it, fixing and updating as I can.

Configuring squid and WCCP is not intuitive, but by following a set of detailed instructions it can be made to work reliably. There are many pitfalls and things to watch out for, so I thought I'd document them here to save people the grief that I went through when I set this up.

Squid is a high-performance proxy caching server for web clients, supporting FTP, gopher, and HTTP data objects.

I use squid at home and have in the past run reasonable sized installations as part of past employment.

I am interested in squid's interaction with cisco routers - particularly WCCP, as, in my day job I am a network engineer.  So squid's network capabilities are of interest as I can tie in what I do at work with what I play with at home.

At home I regularly run Squid-3 as well as Squid-2.5 from CVS and submit bug reports as I find problems.

I was born in November 1974 in Auckland. I have a younger sister, and my Dad lives in Hamilton on a small farm.

My interests include Geocaching, trains, computer networking, software testing.  A lot of what I am involved with is listed in various parts of this web site.

I have a lovely little son (Daddys' little Sibble he calls himself). You can find his website here.

After many months - in fact years, really, of being dormant and having nothing of real substance up online, here is my new revamped website.  This has been one of those things I keep saying I will get around to, and finally have done so.
